2.Determine what wash cycle you need for your items. Most clothes need either a hot or cold wash cycle, but there are a few exceptions (e.g. flannel sheets).

3. Fill your washer with enough water to cover the clothes and add your detergent. If you're using fabric softener, add it now.

4. Set the machine to the wash cycle and wait for it to start running. Don't put any heavy items in until the machine has finished its cycle!

5. Check the progress of the wash cycle periodically and remove any garments that have started to fall apart or become stained during laundering.

6. Once the wash cycle is complete, remove the garments from the washer and place them in your dryer. These should be placed on warm heat when you place them inside.

7. Return to your washing machine and remove any remaining water from the machine.

8. Set your dryer to its highest heat setting for about 15-20 minutes, then remove all of your clean clothes from it.
